In 2007 our company was born as part of the Lodemo corporation, which is a company dedicated to the sale, storage and distribution of fossil fuels. In order to help reduce climate change, Lodemo is betting on alternative energies, mainly those derived from plants such as Jatropha curcas L. That’s the reason behind Agroindustria Alternativa del Sureste, a new spinoff of the company that takes responsibility for developing this project. It is a well known fact that fossil fuel reserves are not infinite and that in the coming years, we will be in dire need for other sources of energy. To achieve this, Agroindustria is investing millions in research and development (R&D) in the fields of biotechnology and breeding, to help develop varieties and hybrids with excellent oil and seed yields that meet customer expectations, as the seed or genetic material is the core of the value chain of a highly profitable bioenergy business.
Our research focuses on the genetic improvement and use of biotechnological tools for generating genetic material or hybrid high-yield seeds and oil, that meet the expectations of our customers in order to make this endeavor a profitable one. Overall, agricultural and agronomic research is performed in order to potentiate gene technology packages for developing our crops.
The Agroindustria team includes people with over 15 years of experience in the field of scientific research in traditional and molecular genetics, agronomy and business knowledge of biofuels.
Strategic alliances have allowed Agroindustria to position itself as a leader in the field of Jatropha curcas plant breeding and biotechnology, generating confidence for our customers in relation to the products offered. Partnerships have been made with research centers and universities known for their scientific and biotechnological efforts.
The link with this entity, the Technological Innovation Park at the Anahuac Mayab University, was made to collaborate on issues concerning market research and new business opportunities.

Wayne State University:
Made to generate molecular DNA profiles in accessions of Jatropha curcas for evaluation and genotypic characterization. Some studies include zigosis testing, formation of heterotic groups, etc.

This link was made with the Faculty of Chemical Engineering for studies related to plant biochemistry, such as those concerning toxicity, oil content, etc.
